Occupation:
Retired Teacher
Candidate Statement:
I have lived here at Harbour Vista for the past 24 years and I’ve seen first-hand how important it is to have a board that operates in a professional manner. I have a B.A. and a Secondary Teaching Credential. For over 30 years, I taught many subjects at the middle school level including English, Health Science, Physical Education, Character Education, and Conflict Resolution. Besides teaching, I’ve served as an advisor for numerous school programs such as Student Council, Conflict Managers, and Drug and Alcohol Prevention. Along with a group of select teachers from the district, I helped write and develop curriculum for Character Education and Tolerance Education for the Shoa Foundation. I’ve volunteered in many civic organizations as well as coached several team sports for both schools and recreational programs.
As the HOA Volunteer Coordinator this past year, I have been given a variety of responsibilities to support the board as well as our community such as assisting in walk throughs with the community manager, helping with water shut-off procedures, issuing keys to new residents, and coordinating volunteer improvement projects and social events. Working closely with the current board members as well as the volunteers has helped me to acquire a much better understanding of the needs of our community. Therefore, I believe my knowledge and years of experience as a teacher along with my organization and leadership skills make me well qualified to serve on the board for the next term. I will work hard to continue the progress made towards the goals achieved by the current board to make our HOA financially solvent, find solutions to our land issues, and promote good will in our community.
