Candidate Statement:
I purchased my condo in Harbour Vista in 2002 and have enjoyed living in our community since then. While our HOA has faced challenges in the past few years I still believe Harbour Vista is a nice place to live and it’s close proximity to the Harbor and Coast make it a very desirable location.
I am the Office Manager for a specialty contractor located in Harbor City, where I have been employed for the past 37 years. I am on the Board of Directors and a Corporate Officer for this company. I have an accounting background and deal with insurance, legal matters, contracts, A/R, A/P, taxes, job costing, purchasing and supervision of employees on a daily basis. This knowledge and experience will be useful in serving on the Board.
My focus, if elected, would be to maintain the common area and facilities the HOA is responsible for. From my past involvement with the HOA I have knowledge and experience of the unique problems facing our HOA and would work to meet these challenges in the most beneficial way for the homeowners and investors who have rental properties in the complex.
I know how important it is for property values and quality of life issues in our community that the common areas, facilities, (pools, spas, clubhouse, parking lots, sidewalks, elevators and landscaping) be maintained in the most cost effective, timely and efficient way and I would work hard to see this occur.
While it is disappointing that an extension on the Land Lease was not achieved, I would continue to look for any opportunity that appears to re-open the issue with the Land Lease Holder and the Land Owners in the future. For now my focus would be to work on the deferred maintenance issues in the complex.
